SWFL Hunts Privacy Policy
Effective November 2, 2026
In short: In the practice hunt and the sample crawl, everything stays on your phone. In a live hunt, the answers, photos and check-in locations you send for your team go to our server so the hunt host can score them. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we never sell anything.
What SWFL Hunts does
SWFL Hunts is the companion app for SWFL Scavenger Hunts events. Teams solve clues, answer questions, take photos and check in at places, and follow a live leaderboard. The app also includes a practice hunt and a sample crawl with made-up data.
Practice hunt and sample crawl
In the practice hunt and the sample crawl, everything you enter (team code, answers, the name you type, photos you pick and practice check-ins) is kept only in the app's storage on your phone. Photos are shown as a preview and are never uploaded. Nothing is sent to us.
Live hunts
When you join a live hunt with your team's code:
- A random sign-in. The app creates an anonymous sign-in for your phone so your team's answers count for your team. It does not ask for your name, email or phone number.
- Answers. Text answers you send are saved with your team's results.
- Photos. Photos you send for a photo clue are uploaded to private storage. Before sending, the app shrinks each photo, which also removes hidden photo details such as the place it was taken; on a phone that can't do that, the original file is sent. Only your own team and the hunt host can see your team's photos. The host can add a short note when a photo isn't accepted.
- Check-in locations. When you tap "Check in" on a location clue, the app asks for your phone's location once and sends that position (and its accuracy) to confirm you are there. It is saved with your team's result, and the host can see where each team last checked in. The app never tracks your location in the background.
- Leaderboard. Every team in the hunt sees each team's name and points. Teams never see each other's answers, photos or locations.
Hosts
The host screens for live hunts are only for the event organizer, who signs in with an email link or code.
Services we use
- Vercel hosts the app's web pages and keeps standard request logs, such as your internet address, browser type and the address requested, for security and troubleshooting.
- Supabase hosts the database, sign-in and photo storage for live hunts, and keeps standard request logs.
- Google Fonts supplies the app's lettering, so Google receives your internet address when the fonts load.
- Map links open Google Maps only when you tap them.
Device features
- Camera or photos: only when you take or choose a photo for a clue.
- Location: only when you tap "Check in" on a location clue.
- No microphone, contacts or notifications.
What we don't do
We don't show ads, track you across apps or websites, build profiles, or sell or rent any information.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
- Practice data stays on your phone until you clear the app's storage or uninstall the app.
- For a live hunt, answers, photos and check-in locations are kept after the event so the host can settle scores and share results, until the host deletes the hunt.
- You can ask us at any time to delete your team's photos and check-in locations, or everything from a hunt: email info@spargurtax.com with the hunt date and your team name. We delete it within 30 days and tell you when it's done.
Children
SWFL Hunts is meant for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Please don't photograph children or people who haven't agreed to it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
